Brock Samson is the one-half Swedish, one-quarter Polish, one-quarter Winnebago murder machine who acts as bodyguard to the Venture Family. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska to a single mother. After being kicked out of college he became a Marine before joining the Office of Secret Intelligence, presumably a covert branch of the United States Government. There he acquired secret agent skills and a License to Kill.

It is unclear how he came to be in charge of guarding the Venture clan, but it is possible it was done as a punishment for investigating the 'possible' existence of The Guild of Calamitous Intent shown in the season 3 episode The Invisible Hand of Fate.

The origin of Brock's and Dr. Venture's relationship can be traced back to college, where Brock and Thaddeus were roomates. Not that they ever saw each other. Brock was either too busy playing football or getting laid while 'Rusty' would hang around with his pals playing D&D and doing college work. They never saw each other until the day Brock was expelled for killing a fellow football player. Within ten seconds of meeting the drunken Sampson knocked Rusty's teeth out. The first actual conversation they shared was Brock apologising for hitting him, then passing along a message that Dr. Venture was dead.

Brock's relationship with Dr. Venture's sons, Hank and Dean is a positive influence in the boy's lives and his own.

Hank Venture can often be found spending time with Brock, when Brock is not performing maintenance, killing someone, going to strip clubs, or spending time with some lady or ladies. Brock is also a mentor to Dean, however, Dean does not share his brother's total adoration of Brock. Dean generally makes more sense than the excitable Hank and that provides common ground with Brock.

Muscular and exceedingly capable physically, Brock's favorite weapon is his knife. Most encounters between Brock and his adversary end with Brock covered in their blood, standing on a pile of mangled bodies.

[edit] Major Influences

These people have greatly influenced the way Brock has developed and what he strives to accomplish in life. He's also a red belt in Judo (Red Belt doesn't exist in regular Kodokan)he uses the throw Ogoshi which means major hip throw. S03E05

[edit] Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture

Brock first met Rusty Venture in college when the two were assigned to be roommates. Their relationship was rocky at first, a classic jock vs. nerd odd couple. Brock was constantly entertaining ladies in the room and this distraction affected Rusty's ability to sleep and therefore study. Sometime after college, Brock now serves as a bodyguard to Dr. Venture and a mentor to his sons, especially Hank. His merciless savagery helps him to dispatch the myriad of monsters, henchmen, and other threats that plague the life of the Venture Family.

[edit] Tommy the Quarterback

Playing football was a natural choice for the aggressive and physically powerful Samson. Brock, who wore number 72 for the team, was a deadly combination of quick as well as strong and extremely tough. This brute strength, however, was the cause of a accidental death on the field of Tommy, the quarterback, a brown-haired deaf man who wore number 11. This incident would haunt Brock for years afterward.

[edit] Molotov Cocktease

Another important character in Brock's life has been Molotov Cocktease. Brock's relationship with Molotov has been an odd one. She killed his partner and he killed her father and took her eye. Even so, Brock is passionately in love with Molotov and is very frustrated by her continued use of a chastity belt. Led Zeppelin's In Through the Out Door reminds him of Molotov, the only woman he ever loved.

[edit] Col. Hunter Gathers

Col. Hunter Gathers was the man who initiated Brock into the OSI. Hunter quickly became a mentor to the younger agent. In Brock's words, Hunter was the "2nd closest thing to a father [he] ever had." However in Assassinanny 911 Brock was forced to hunt down and confront this man after Hunter Gathers goes rogue.

[edit] Methodology

Even though Brock possesses a license to kill, he refuses to use a gun. He relies instead on brute strength, endurance, and skill with a knife that borders on the supernatural. Men he has served with speak of him as a god, and two men would fight over the right to have one of his discarded cigarette butts. Brock's killing efficiency is put to the test against the horde of followers sent against him by The Monarch and other villains. Admiring this efficiency and professionalism in others, Brock respects The Guild of Calamitous Intent for the surgical use of their operatives. He remains loyal to OSI up until the the Season 3 Finale before then never wavering on his mission to protect Rusty Venture except for not killing female opponents of those opposing Venture clan. He always show mercy to enemies seeing as they where brave enough to think of fighting him and never makes them feel more pain then needed, Even singing a song for man who believed himself to be dying.

[edit] O.S.I. Membership

Brock Samson is a member of the Office of Secret Intelligence, with a clearance level of 8. He carries an O.S.I. issued class "A" license to kill, number 09262-8765-001 (displayed in Mid-Life Chrysalis) and he is an organ donor. He effectively has withdrawn from OSI by abandoning Rusty's Blanket, his long term assignment to protect Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture.
