[edit] Rundown
[edit] Synopsis
The Fraternity of Torment has decided to have their first meeting on Spider-Skull Island. The members of the group include Brainulo, Scaramantula, Manotaur, and Dr. Fanadragon. They plan on discussing how to thwart Dr. Jonas Venture by kidnapping his son Rusty and demanding that Dr. Venture show within a hour or his son will be fed to piranhas. And while the Fraternity is celebrating their devious plan, Dr. Fanadragon reveals himself to be Dr. Jonas Venture Sr. and calls in Team Venture who bursts in using a giant drill. Scaramantula hastily hits the button to drop Rusty into the pool of piranhas, but Otto Aquarius quickly rescues him and calls on the piranhas to attack the Fraternity's henchmen. Manotaur makes a break for Otto but is quickly lit on fire by Kano, while Brainulo calls upon his giant robot, Utaro, to attack Team Venture. Humungaloid breaks in and quickly takes care of Brainulo and Utaro as well as quite a few henchmen in the process. Meanwhile Scaramantula takes off down a secret corridor and sets off a self-destruct sequence. Team Venture rallies to find the bomb, but their concerns are quickly put to rest when the detonator freezes up. Relieved, Team Venture makes Spider-Skull Island their new base.
Back in the present day, JJ has set up a museum in honor of his late father and has invited his family and friends, as well as his father's surviving friends and enemies. And while JJ is bickering about his brother's attire, Scaramantula is taking Kano, The Action Man, Brainulo, Otto, and The Pirate Captain on a tour of his once secret corridor, much to the group's dismay. Over in the hanger,a distraught Professor Impossible has arrived and is frantically trying to land his plane. He manages to set down without destroying anything and reluctantly meets with JJ. Scaramantula and company make their way into the hanger from the corridor and are greeted by JJ who shows them to their tables where they are reunited with Dr. Entmann (aka Humungaloid). Meanwhile, Sally Impossible meets up with Professor Impossible, and immediately demands the divorce papers. Sally tidies him up a bit before she storms off, which leads him to stalk her for the rest of the night.
Elsewhere, Brock is chatting with The Action Man about the original Team Venture's glory days. Billy Quizboy stumbles upon them and begs for an autograph from The Action Man, as well as the other members of the original Team Venture. Just behind them, Brainulo is attempting to reactivate Utaro, which Scaramantula picks up on and the two decide to reunite and seek revenge on Team Venture.
Team Venture has set up an autograph table and are making a nice profit, while Scaramantula and Brainulo have set up a nearby rival autograph table which has a much longer line. Dr. Venture and company make their way to the Team Venture autograph table and Rusty gives them a piece of his mind. He even comments about Colonel Gentleman 's death, and Colonel Gentlemen promptly shows up at that exact moment to deliver a swift fist to Rusty's jaw. Gentlemen, when asked about his "death," declares that he had gone into a diabetic coma after eating a box of Mallomars and a Yoo-hoo when his manservant decided to leave. Gentlemen has brought copies of his new book of memoirs to sell, including stories about who he slept around with.
Brainulo, upset with the attempt to get back at Team Venture sets out to create his own form of chaos by telepathically making everyone think that their conscience is pushing them to their deepest desires.
Elsewhere, The Pirate Captain and a few of his men are talking about how JJ pushes them around. The Captain defends JJ until he is called into the next room to take a picture with Team Venture. He is asked to stand in for Ook-Ook, but once JJ asks him to take his hat and shirt off and slouch, The Pirate Captain snaps.
The Captain rallies his men and incites a riot in the main room, while Dr. Venture and company decide to play it safe and get out while they still can. Team Venture and the pirates have an all-out brawl until someone accidentally starts up the projector which begins to play a short video compilation of Jonas Venture Sr.'s adventures. The fighting ceases and the crowd is enticed by the film which JJ dubbed over with a touching little speech. When the film ends he asks Rusty to say a few words, while Rusty is boarding his plane and making his way back home. Meanwhile, Brainulo, in an attempt to reactivate Utaro one last time, accidentally unfreezes the self-destruct sequence from 50 years ago and fries his own brain. Scaramantula wheels him back into the corridor and tries to disarm the bomb, but to no avail, and he rides on the back of Brainulo's chair down the stairs.
As Dr. Venture, Brock, and the boys fly back home, Spider-Skull Island is about to blow. Professor Impossible ingests the bomb, presumably trying to kill himself, and accidentally saves everyone else, which puts him back in good graces with Sally.
[edit] Fun Facts
- The Rosenbergs that JJ mentions were two American citizens that were found guilty on charges of passing secrets to Russia about the American atomic bomb.
- Colonel Gentlemen refers to Brock as "Prince Adams," which is He-Man's real identity.
- During Action Man's conversation with Brock, a man rolls by in a wheelchair. Only the back of him is seen, but it is recognizably Mr. Brisby
