After an emotional argument with The Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend runs into the arms of an old friend for comfort. And The Monarch ends up on trial for murder.
[edit] Synopsis
Hank and Dean, dressed in the height of Indiana Jones fashion, are investigating a tomb, where they find a cursed chest. Brock arrives and saves the boys by beating the living statue into submission. The Monarch arrives, and the boys for Mecha-Shiva, which ends the flashback, opening the episode to the protests of the Monarch in a courtroom.
The Monarch is on trial for the disappearance of a policeman on the night where he was left by Dr. Girlfriend. Prosecution is Tiny Attorney, a member of the Guild (see Guild of Calamitous Intent), and defense is The Monarch. Through the testimony of The Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend, the boys, and others, the story of the night unfolds. Harsh words send Dr. Girlfriend back to her ex-partner, Phantom Limb, the Monarch, drunk, shows up to talk and makes things worse. Nobody knows the true story of what happened that night, or how the policeman disappeared.
Dr. Venture, in the courtroom with Brock and the boys, makes a comment to Brock that he would have called the police on the Monarch ages ago if he knew it would have worked, and Brock replies that the police usually stay out of Guild business.
During the testimony of the Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend calls him a liar and gives her own version of the night. Brock takes the boys out of the courtroom when the testimony gets racy. When he's taking the boys out of the courtroom, he notices a large number of Guild agents - Strangers - at the trial. The boys and Brock meet Dr. Orpheus outside of the Men's Room, as he is on his way in to testify as an expert witness.
In the courtroom, Dr. Orpheus is asked to read the mind of the Monarch to find out what really happened on the night in question. Dr Orpheus finds out that the Monarch was set up by Phantom Limb and other Guild agents and that the policeman is now a rich man with a new identity. As he is about to testify, the Guild agents freeze everyone in the courtroom and remove their real target, Tiny Attorney. They modify the memory of everyone in the room, and The Monarch goes to jail.
